The job of a developmental editor and book mentor...

is to help an author produce the best fiction or nonfiction manuscript possible to submit to agents, acquisition editors, or readers in any given field.  For over eight years,  I have mentored more than 300 writers in the production of books, essays, and short stories.  I lay out strategies for solving problems and for building on strengths.  I hone prose and strengthen voice.  I pose questions to encourage clarity and reorganize material for pacing and tension.  I ask writers about their publishing goals and work diligently to see those goals met.

I work with established, emerging, and new writers of fiction and nonfiction -- from helping to plan the manuscript to polishing the final draft.  I also review and create materials for agent submissions, including query letters and nonfiction proposals.
